Citroën Cartoons

If you love Citroëns, you’ll know they’ve always done things their own way. The DS looked like something from a science fiction film when it came out. That hydropneumatic suspension? Still nothing quite like it. The Traction Avant basically invented front-wheel drive for normal cars. The 2CV got half of France on the road. And the SM – now there’s a car that married Italian exotica with French genius.

I draw Citroëns because they’re proper mavericks. These cartoons are for anyone who gets why these cars matter.

Your Citroën

Ever driven a DS? You don’t drive it so much as float. Potholes just… vanish. The 2CV is a different story – all bounce and character, grinning at you from every corner. My aunt, a lover of all things French, was the first person I knew to own one. She drove it all over the UK. The SM turns heads even now, that Maserati V6 still sounding gorgeous. I wish I also had an aunt who’d owned one of those!

Citroën owners get it. These aren’t cars for blending in.

I’ll draw your Citroën – Traction Avant, DS, 2CV, C6, whatever you’ve got. Each one’s got bags of personality and I’ll make sure that comes through.

A Bit of History

André Citroën started building cars in 1919. By 1934 he’d launched the Traction Avant with front-wheel drive and monocoque construction. Everyone else took about twenty years to catch up. The French police ran them for decades. So did the Resistance.

The 2CV came in 1948. The brief was brilliant: get farmers across ploughed fields without breaking eggs. What they got was an icon – cheap, cheerful, and impossible not to love.

Then 1955. The DS. Honestly, it still looks futuristic today. That suspension system, the self-leveling, power steering – all standard. They were so proud of it in France they stuck one in the Louvre. “DS” sounds like “déesse” – goddess. Bit dramatic maybe, but have you seen one?

The SM pushed even further. 1970. Maserati V6, directional headlights, looks that could stop traffic. Didn’t last long enough, but what a thing.

How It Works

Know exactly what you want? Great, let’s do it. Not sure? We can figure it out together.

Want yourself in the picture? Your registration plate? Your mates from the club? That trip to France you did last summer? Just tell me what matters to you.

After That

The CX kept the weird and wonderful going through the 70s and 80s. The XM was properly plush. Even the C6 – discontinued now sadly – showed Citroën could still make something different in the luxury market.

The Picasso models? Even their people carriers were interesting. That’s just how Citroën works.

Shall We?

Whether you’ve got a Citroën sitting in your garage, you’re saving up for one, or you just appreciate cars with a bit of soul – let’s draw it.

I’ve been at this for a while. Every Citroën’s different and I reckon that deserves celebrating.

Drop me a line and we’ll sort something out.
